Hunter Valley company Daracon Group has opened the door for eight new team members to take their first confident steps into civil construction through the Role Ready program.
Supported by Smart and Skilled funding a NSW Government initiative, the Role Ready program combines classroom‑based learning at Major Training Group’s Beresfield facility with practical, on‑site training across Daracon Group worksites.
Daracon Group Training Development Lead Georgina Evans said Major Training Group stood out as a strong partner, by having a local Beresfield base that made delivery straightforward and accessible for participants.

“A close, collaborative partnership enabled Daracon Group and Major Training to co‑design training content and delivery,” Mrs Evans said.
The blended approach to training played a key role in improving learner outcomes.
“Using real plant and equipment ensured training was highly relevant and directly reflected day‑to‑day civil construction tasks,” Mrs Evans said.
“Site‑specific needs were addressed, logistics were coordinated effectively, and training remained aligned with current operational and safety standards.
The pilot program commenced in early February and concluded in mid-March, with all participants successfully transitioning into employment on various Daracon Group projects across the Hunter Valley.
Through the program participants gained practical experience, built confidence, and developed a civil construction skill set that has positioned them for a strong start in industry.
Daracon Group will continue to utilise the program in alignment with Daracon’s Career Starter program.
