Congratulations Class of 2025

Celebrating the Success of Our Latest YDF Graduates!

At Major Training, we believe in the power of education to transform lives, and our latest cohort of Youth Development Foundation(YDF) graduates is a testament to that belief. These young individuals have successfully completed their Certificate I in Workplace Skills, with training provided by Major Training. This program equips them with essential skills, confidence and career opportunities.

“Every young person who has completed this program is 500% better off in their circumstances compared to when we first met them. And that’s thanks to the team, the program, the funding, and—most importantly—the passion of the people behind it,” YDF Director, Gerry Blackwell, told us.

The Power of Skilling Queenslanders for Work

This program, funded by Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) through the Department of Trade, Employment and Training, provides vital support for young people looking to build their future. Through structured training, hands-on experience, and dedicated mentors, these graduates are now stepping into employment and further education pathways that will shape their careers. The Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative, is a vital program that helps young people build employability skills and transition into the workforce. With the support of this funding, Major Training has been able to deliver life-changing programs that continue to positively impact young people across the region.

A Pathway to Employment and Further Education

For many of these students, this program has completely changed their outlook on life and work.

“I feel like I’ve gained the confidence to just do anything—and yeah, get out there,” graduate Mia shared with us.

Confidence is one of the most powerful tools a young person can have, and this program has given them the support, knowledge, and skills to pursue new opportunities.

One of the standout aspects of this program is the diverse pathways it opens up. Some graduates are stepping straight into employment, like one student who has secured a florist warehousing role, preparing bouquets and handling logistics in a creative environment.

Others are pursuing higher education, such as another graduate who is set to begin a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology at the University of Queensland (UQ). Their ambition to work with animals and contribute to the field of biology is now within reach thanks to the skills and motivation gained through this program.

Beyond the classroom, this program also connects graduates with industry professionals and employers. At the graduation event, five to six potential employers and community groups attended to offer young people opportunities to further their education and gain employment.

To our incredible graduates: your journey is just beginning! Keep pushing forward, chase your dreams, and remember—you CAN do it!
