The Major Convos podcast is back for season three, recording honest conversations from its purpose-built studio in Yatala, Queensland.
Season three dives deep into the vocational education and training landscape, with a strong focus on how industry‑led solutions are preparing apprentices for the realities of modern work.
Hosts Corey Bowles and Matthew Tenkate will explore how training providers and employers can better align to ensure apprentices are truly job‑ready, particularly across priority trades that are critical to Queensland’s economic future.
“This season explores the realities shaping Queensland’s workforce, with a strong spotlight on Vocational Education and Training (VET), manufacturing capability, and the leadership required to future‑proof critical industries,” Major Training CEO Corey Bowles said.
The Major Training CEO hinted that leadership will be a defining thread throughout the season, viewed through a modern, purpose‑driven lens.
Major Convos examines where the biggest workforce gaps exist today, why they persist, and what practical steps industry, educators, and leaders must take to build a sustainable pipeline of skilled talent.
“This season we can’t wait to challenge outdated leadership models and explore how purpose, clarity, and culture play a decisive role in attracting, developing, and retaining apprentices and skilled workers in trade‑based industries,” Mr Bowles said.
“We can’t keep talking about skills shortages without addressing how we prepare people, how we lead them, and how we give them a reason to stay,” he said.

Co‑host Matthew Tenkate added that season three will move beyond surface‑level conversations and delve into what industry, training, and leadership need to do differently to prepare a strong workforce.
