Empowering Queenslanders

Major Training Group, in partnership with the Department of Employment and Small Business Training (DESBT), proudly celebrates the success of its Trade Skills Assessment and Gap Training (TSAGT) program which is proudly funded by the Queensland Government. This initiative has seen us up-skill hundreds of Queenslanders with substantial industry experience to complete priority trade qualifications in Manufacturing and Engineering (MEM) and Automotive (AUR) qualifications.

The TSAGT program, facilitated by DESBT, offers a unique opportunity for individuals with significant on-the-job experience to attain formal qualifications. This initiative not only recognises their skills and expertise but also enhances their career prospects by providing them with nationally recognised certifications.

“We have seen first-hand the impact of the TSAGT program,” said Mathew Tenkate, CEO of Major Training Group. “Through this funding, we have been able to assist many experienced professionals achieve their qualifications, not only furthering their careers, but contributing greatly to the skilled workforce in Queensland.”

The program focuses on assessing the existing skills of participants and identifying any gaps that need to be filled to meet the qualification requirements. Tailored training plans are then developed to address these gaps, ensuring that each participant gains the knowledge and skills necessary to meet industry standards.

Dylan Dixon, a participant in the MEM pathway, shared his positive experience: “The TSAGT program was a game-changer for me. Despite having years of experience in manufacturing, I lacked formal qualifications. Now, I have a qualification that opens up more opportunities for advancement.”

The success of the TSAGT program is a testament to the collaborative partnership efforts of Major Training Group and DESBT. By providing targeted support to experienced individuals, the program not only helps them achieve their career goals but also addresses the skills shortage in critical trade areas.

The TSAGT program aligns with Queensland’s economic development strategy by ensuring that the workforce is equipped with the necessary skills to support key industries. By investing in the upskilling of experienced professionals, the program contributes to a more competent and competitive workforce.

“With the continued support from DESBT, we look forward to bridging the gap for many more skilled professionals in the future.” Tenkate states.
