What is a Qualified Business Person (QBP)? A Qualified Business Person is responsible for the business aspects of electrical contracting work. They’re a senior, highly qualified person who manages electrical risks, revenue, budgeting, safety compliance, risk management, customer quoting, employee training, and continuous improvement, among other responsibilities.

Course Details
This Qualified Business Person course, based in Queensland, covers how to develop policies and plans to ensure regulatory requirements are met during electrical contracting business work. Regulatory compliance training ensures you can successfully follow the Electrical Safety Act and similar electrical industry obligations.
Who’s this course for? Anyone looking to become a well-paid electrician and gain their unrestricted electrical contractor’s licence is required to complete QBP training.

Entry Requirements
To enter this electrotechnology short course, you must have completed the UEEE0007 unit. You will also need to be employed with a relevant electrical company, and we recommend you have at least a basic understanding of electrical concepts. You may not be required to complete the unit BSBESB402 if you have at least 5 years of relevant business experience.
Qualified Business Person (QBP) Course
A Qualified Business Person (QBP) is a mandatory role for holding an electrical contractor license in Queensland. The QBP is responsible for ensuring business compliance, safety standards, and financial sustainability. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining safety management systems, ensuring compliance with taxation and insurance requirements, overseeing contractual obligations, and managing business risk to support the safe delivery of electrical work.

Your QBP training is undertaken through Major Training, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Queensland. The course involves both face-to-face and online, self-paced study formats.
