Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be already working in a trade to enrol in a Major Training course?
It depends on the course. For certain courses, such as Certificate III level and above, you’ll be required to prove competencies in previous levels and skills. So, if you wanted to apply for the Certificate III in Electrotechnology (electrical apprenticeship), you’d have to have already completed the Certificate II in Electrotechnology. But you don’t need to be already working in a trade to do Cert 2 qualifications, short courses, health and safety training, and similar courses.
Can employers enrol their entire team in a Major Training course?
Yes, we work with enterprises and businesses to train entire teams in whatever qualifications they require. We provide group training at our dedicated sites, or we can arrange private, flexible training, where our experts come to your job site to teach employees. What industry courses are best for career changers?
We offer many entry-level courses that are ideal for career starters and switchers. Look for short courses and level 2 certificates, as these have the fewest entry requirements and provide the most straightforward routes into a new career.

Are your courses nationally recognised outside of Queensland?
Yes, we are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that provides nationally accredited certifications. This means that if you ever want to transfer to a new job or position outside of Queensland (as is common in industries like supply chain, logistics, transport, and mining and gas), your new employer will recognise your Major Training qualifications.
