Women in Construction (WiC) Program Traineeship
Community Solutions and RoadTek, a branch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads are set to deliver the Women in Construction (WiC) Program commencing in March 2025. This program offers women an opportunity to start a career within the Civil Construction industry.
To address the gender imbalance in the construction industry, Community Solutions and RoadTek developed the Women in Construction (WiC) Program, actively targeting women of any age group or cultural background to complete full time traineeships in Civil Construction at one of RoadTek’s ten operational units in Queensland.

- Start by completing a 3-week program in Brisbane then continue your traineeship at one of RoadTek’s ten operational units across Queensland.

Who we’re looking for:
- Both mature and junior female candidates dedicated to earning a Certificate III in Civil Construction.
- We value all candidates that have some industry knowledge and passion for a career in the industry.
- Adapt to a rotating shift roster which could include regional or night work. Candidates with dependants or pre-existing commitments are still encouraged to apply.
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.
- This opportunity is open to all ages. 2024 school leavers are highly encouraged to apply.
Traineeship highlights:
- Learning to read and interpret plans and overviews and implement as directed.
- Carry out measurements and calculations.
- Contributing to maintenance and repair of various road infrastructure.
- Operate small plant and equipment.
- Implementation of traffic management plans.
- Embracing outdoor work in varying weather conditions, day or night.
Essential Qualifications:
- Construction White Card
- Manual driver’s license (or must be committed to obtain within 6 months)
- CPR desirable
- Ability to provide two work or school related references
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical with drug and alcohol testing

Duration: Full-time 3-year Certificate III in Civil Construction Traineeship (with the ability to complete sooner)
Location: At one of RoakTek’s ten operational units across Queensland
Study mode: Compulsory 3-week training in Brisbane followed by full-time traineeship at one of RoadTek’s ten operational units across Queensland.
