Major Training and Riviera Cast off on new Bespoke Marine VETiS Programs

We are elated to announce that we have partnered with Riviera Australia to create a catalogue of tailor made programs exclusively for enrolled school students and specifically geared as an introduction into the marine industry.

This week we held a successful information evening on site at our Yatala campus, inviting a classroom full of motivated students and their families to network and express their interest in the VETiS program launch.

Major’s business development officer, Gemma Hare and Riviera’s Apprentice and Training Manger, Keira Badke, have been hugely influential and successful in creating and facilitating this progressive program.

“I met with Keira and we got talking about students and the VETiS programs they study at school and we quickly realised the lack of pathways that are available to students. Partnering with Riviera means that students are completing qualifications that they are: 1) interested in and 2) are shown through to a potential pathway.” – Gemma expressed during the open evening.

“It’s extremely important that we keep up with industry. The industry is constantly moving, you either evolve and adapt or you get left behind. At Major we work alongside industry to ensure all our training is current, we are constantly discussing and listening to the demands of industry and contextualising the learning to make sure we stay relevant.”

Through this program, grade 10, 11 or 12 students can take the helm with three study streams to choose from, which are delivered one day a week on campus beginning on Monday January 29th and concluding in November 2024. The students are provided with flexible support to set sail around their current school study commitments as they are given the choice of enrolment for either:

Certificate I in Construction (CPC10102)

Certificate II in Electrotechnology (UEE22020)

Certificate II in Engineering (MEM20422)

Riviera Australia will be actively following the students’ progress throughout the programs and offering work placement to participants, with the possible invitation for those showing diligence to undertake a school based apprenticeship upon completion and move into the vast areas of trade on offer including the likes of Cabinetmaking, Electrotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Upholstery, and Marine Craft Construction.

This exciting partnership collaboration between Riviera Australia and Major Training Group is a testament to the industry’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting career opportunities.

These programs promise a bright future for those who wish to embark on a journey in this dynamic and ever-evolving field. As the tides of the marine industry continue to change, these apprenticeship pathways provide a steadfast course toward success, ensuring the industry remains resilient and ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

If you are interested, or know of someone who might be, we strongly encourage enrolment as a priority as positions in these programs are limited. Contact Gemma Hare today on Mob: 0456606279 or email gemmah@major.com.au
