Who is this course for? Our test and tag course is a well-structured program tailored to commercial and residential electricians, compliance officers, safety technicians, construction workers, and maintenance workers across the Sunshine Coast.
Did you know? The Electrical Safety Act requires employers in Queensland to test and tag electrical equipment regularly. Workplace safety is observed across all industries. However, high-risk industries such as construction, healthcare, manufacturing, transport and logistics, and electrotechnology require more frequent inspections and audits, as well as more stringent equipment testing. The Sunshine Coast is home to these industries, making a test and tag qualification increasingly in demand.
Course Details
Our test and tag course consists of 8-10 hours of online training and one day face-to-face (or two days if you haven’t previously completed the UEECD0007 unit). After completing the course, you’ll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment, which is what you’ll need to apply for a restricted electrical contractor licence.
The training course we offer covers the nationally recognised units below:
- UEERL0003: Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord-connected equipment and cord assemblies
- UEECD0007: Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
The test and tag course delivers training in the following skills:
- Proper use of a portable appliance tester to test portable electrical equipment
- Identify hazards and manage risks in accordance with workplace procedures
- Perform on-site inspections and follow safe working procedures
- Complete risk assessment documentation as per Australian Standard AS3760 and electrical safety guidelines
- Test electrical cord-connected equipment and monitor cord assemblies
- Tag electrical equipment, complete records, and follow workplace procedures as required by law
- Complete documentation for cord-connected equipment, tagging records, and incident reports
Major Training’s test and tag course on the Sunshine Coast is an even mix of theory and applied learning, helping professionals across multiple industries develop the technical skills needed for testing and tagging.
After completing the course, you’ll get a statement of attainment (SOA) as proof of competence. This will qualify you to apply for a restricted electrical licence through the Electrical Safety Office (ESO), which is ultimately required for electrical testing and tagging work.

Our test and tag course has no entry requirements. All you need is a Unique Student Identifier and basic numeracy skills. Learners must also be physically capable of performing assessment tasks.

Course Details
TEST AND TAG COURSE
Duration: 8 – 10 hours of online training PLUS 1 – 2 days face-to-face training.
When: Mondays, once a month
- Delivery is blended learning, online theory, and face-to-face assessment, as well as practical applications.
- Everything you need from start to finish at our Sunshine Coast test and tag training facility.
- 8-10 hours of high-quality online training, plus one day of face-to-face training delivered by our knowledgeable and highly experienced team (or two days if you also need to complete the UEECD0007 unit).
- This course runs on Mondays, once a month.
- IMPORTANT: The online assessment must be completed prior to attending training. Failure to complete it in time will result in cancellation of enrolment.
