Work Safely at Heights
Why Scaffolders Add the Heights Ticket
Scaffolding work happens above ground level by definition, but the scaffolding licence itself is about the structure and equipment, not about the fall-prevention systems and rescue procedures expected from anyone working at height. Many principal contractors list Work Safely at Heights as a blanket site requirement, separate from any trade ticket, which catches scaffolders out if they assume the CPCCLSF2001 covers it. By completing a scaffolding course and pairing it with a general heights competency, you’ll be legally covered as an employer or worker.
Who does this bundle suit? New scaffolders who have not yet completed a standalone heights course, and anyone whose site access depends on holding both a trade licence and a general working-at-heights competency.
QLD workers risk turning up to a site induction with a scaffolding ticket and being told the job also needs a Working Safely at Heights certificate. Since scaffolding sits under our High Risk Work Licence range and Working at Heights is a separate general competency outside it, the two are easy to assume overlap when they do not, which is exactly the gap this bundle closes.
For an employer, a crew member holding both means one less induction hurdle to manage on site, and one fewer reason a scaffolder gets turned away from a job that assumed the heights certificate was already covered, particularly on principal-contractor sites where the heights requirement is enforced strictly at the gate.
Training runs across 5 days at our Yatala and Morayfield campuses, with both the scaffolding licence and the heights course delivered in one booking.
Ready to go beyond basic scaffold work? Our Intermediate Scaffolding licence is the natural next step once basic and heights are both covered, adding cantilevered, spur, and tube-and-coupler structures to what you are ticketed for.
