OVERVIEW
Our Certificate III in Scaffolding gives you the skills to safely and efficiently erect, alter, and dismantle scaffolding in residential and commercial construction. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we deliver nationally recognised training in Queensland and northern NSW.
Who is this course for? Anyone looking to become a scaffolder or work in a role that involves scaffolding (such as in the construction or civil construction industries). This apprenticeship is ideal for young people, students, career starters, career switchers, experienced scaffolders, and mature-age apprentices.
This scaffolding qualification teaches you to read plans, design installations, perform measurements, work at heights, and apply compliance regulations.
Course Details
This Scaffolding Cert 3 is taught at one of our Queensland training facilities (such as in Brisbane or Cairns) or at your own job site. You’ll learn the fundamentals of scaffolding – including how to put up and take down scaffolding – as well as advanced techniques and tools.
Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll get a statement of attainment that proves your competencies in scaffolding tasks, allowing you to apply for your scaffolding licence and become a qualified scaffolder.
Across Queensland and New South Wales, there are government-subsidised funding programs and school-based apprenticeships designed to financially support aspiring scaffolders in their apprenticeship. For a scaffolding apprenticeship, funding options like Career Start substantially reduce or remove the out-of-pocket tuition fees associated with professional training.
What You'll Learn
Entry Requirements
There are no formal requirements to enrol in Cert 3 in Scaffolding, except for the following basic entry requirements:
- CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, commonly known as the white card, as specified by Safe Work Australia’s model Code of Practice: Construction Work.
- Be able to read and write basic English (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
- Pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN)
- Minimum 18 years of age to get the high-risk work licensing assessments associated with the qualification
- Provide relevant identification
Certificate III in Scaffolding – Career Pathways
Completing a Certificate in Scaffolding opens up career opportunities as a scaffolder, such as an Advanced Scaffolder or Scaffolding Supervisor. These roles involve assembling, dismantling, and inspecting scaffolding structures across construction, maintenance, and industrial sites. Other roles include Inspector and Site Manager.
But there are also many other careers you can do that don’t limit you to just scaffolding work, and there are diverse opportunities across sectors like engineering, logistics and supply chain, mining and energy, and offshore oil and gas.

Delivery options
We’re a registered training organisation offering a structured scaffolding training plan and ongoing support to our learners, allowing you to develop the skills and practical experience needed to safely work with scaffolds in construction and civil works.
An apprenticeship combines paid work with structured training, allowing individuals to gain a nationally recognised qualification while gaining practical, on-the-job experience. A Training Contract between the apprentice and employer must be in place for the apprenticeship to proceed.
Training Locations
Train at one of our dedicated training facilities and assessment centres across Queensland and NSW, including our Gold Coast, Dinmore, Morayfield, and Cairns training facilities. We also offer other training courses to expand your construction skills, such as TLILIC0005 Operate Elevated Work Platforms and RIIMPO321F Operate Front-End Loader.
Entry requirements
Learner must also have access to a workplace to be able to gain sufficient experience to successfully complete the Unit of Competency requirements.
