Our training program for the Certificate III in Electrotechnology gives you a full, comprehensive electrical apprenticeship on the Gold Coast. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we provide an industry-leading course to develop your knowledge and practical skills as a budding electrician. This Gold Coast electrical apprenticeship combines hands-on learning with practical theory for complete readiness in the field and a long-term, stable electrical career.
An electrical apprenticeship is open to anyone looking to become a qualified electrician or work with electricity, whether you’re changing careers or building on previous industry experience. To enrol in an electrical apprenticeship on the Gold Coast, you’ll need to be employed either full-time or part-time with an appropriate company (such as in the construction or electrotechnology sectors).
Course Details
Completing a Certificate III in Electrotechnology course means you’ll gain a thorough understanding of basic and advanced electrical concepts. You’ll also be trained to install wiring systems, connect electrical control circuits, manage electrical equipment problems, and construct low-voltage electrical circuits.
Designed to efficiently ease you into electrotechnology and an electrical career, you’ll develop primary skills in testing, fault finding, repairs, maintenance, designing and building electrical systems, testing and connecting alternating current, and health and safety principles of electrical systems.
An electrical apprenticeship on the Gold Coast takes 4 years to complete. During this time, you’ll undertake paid work as an apprentice electrician. During your work experience, you’ll complete units up to 1,110 weighting points across the 4-year program, giving you a complete understanding of general electrical installations and low-voltage heating equipment.
We also offer the Career Start Funding program for those who are under 25 and are interested in signing up for an electrical apprenticeship on the Gold Coast. Eligible students can access reduced upfront costs, making it more affordable to begin their apprenticeship. A co-contribution fee is still required to contribute towards the cost of training.

To enrol in our electrical apprenticeship on the Gold Coast, you must:
- Have passed Year 10 English, Maths, and Science
- Normal colour vision as electricians work with colour-coded wiring (non-negotiable safety requirement regulated under Queensland’s Electrical Safety Act 2002)
- The right to work in Australia
- At least 21 to qualify as a mature age apprentice
- Must be employed full-time or part-time and have access to a workplace
- Not a formal entry requirement but a strong analytical and problem-solving ability is a practical advantage

Electrical apprenticeships are available from our Gold Coast training location, with additional options across Queensland and NSW. Whether you’re local or based elsewhere, you can access quality training with support throughout your apprenticeship.
An apprenticeship combines paid work with structured training, allowing individuals to gain a nationally recognised qualification while gaining practical, on-the-job experience. A Training Contract between the apprentice and employer must be in place for the apprenticeship to proceed.
Training Locations
In addition to our facility on the Gold Coast, we also have training sites in Yatala, Morayfield, Cairns and Newcastle for apprentices to attend a short 2-week Block Training.
