OVERVIEW
This course provides participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate elevating work platforms (EWPs) that do not require a high-risk work (HRW) licence. If you need to operate boom lifts with a capacity over 11m, please refer to our EWP Over 11m course.
Course Details
This course is designed to ensure you can confidently and safely operate elevating work platforms in various work environments. This unit of competency (RIIHAN301E) covers the operation of elevating work platforms under 11m, specifically boom lifts (BL) and scissor lifts (SL). The skills and knowledge gained are transferable across a range of EWPs under 11m.
Please note, this course provides a nationally recognised unit of competency, which is accepted and recognised across Australia. It’s important to clarify that Yellow Cards are issued by an industry body outside of the VET system. Contrary to common belief, a Yellow Card is not required to operate an EWP or scissor lift.

Entry Requirements
- Be able to read and write basic English (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
- Pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN)
- Minimum 18 years of age (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)

- Wear steel-capped or safety boots on site; sun protection Hat, long-sleeved shirt, and pants – are also recommended
