OVERVIEW
This course is designed for individuals who wish to gain the High-Risk Work Licence (Class CB) required to operate bridge and gantry cranes. It provides the necessary knowledge and skills to operate these cranes safely and efficiently in various workplaces such as construction sites, warehouses, and industrial environments.
Course Details
This unit outlines the essential skills and knowledge needed to operate bridge and gantry cranes safely. It’s important to note that completing this unit does not automatically grant a High-Risk Work Licence (HRWL) to operate this equipment, you will need to apply with work Safe QLD for the licence after you complete the course. The TLILIC0016 Licence to Operate a Bridge and Gantry Crane enables individuals to safely operate a bridge crane or gantry crane under the following conditions: The crane can be controlled either from a permanent cabin on the crane or remotely with multiple powered operations. This licence includes the operation of cranes with more than three powered motions (as described previously), such as traversing, hoisting, and rotating the crane’s attachment.

ENTRY Requirements
- Be able to read and write basic English (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
- Pass a language, literacy & numeracy assessment (LLN)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Provide relevant identification
- Wear covered shoes or boots and a hat during training
High-risk work Licences
- High risk work licences have a 5-year life span. After this period, the licence will need to be renewed. This can be done via the WHS Queensland website.
- If your high risk work licence has expired, you’re not classified as a licenced operator until it’s renewed.
- You have up to 12 months to renew your high risk licence. If it’s past the 12-month period, you’ll be required to re-sit the written and practical exam.
- A VOC cannot be done on an expired licence.
How To Apply For a High Risk Work Licence
- You have 60 days from successfully completing your practical assessment to apply with WorkSafe QLD for your high risk work licence.
- There is an application fee to lodge your AS1 Form.
