Simply enrol with a registered training organisation (RTO), complete the nationally recognised unit of competency, and successfully finish the training and assessment requirements. Upon completion, you’ll get your excavator ticket, making you qualified to apply for jobs that require this certification.
The 3-day excavator course we offer is delivered in a real construction environment, making theoretical and practical learning easier to absorb. After completing both the training and assessment components of the program, you’ll be job-ready for construction excavator operations.
Following Australian standards and aiming to produce competent operators, our excavator training on the Gold Coast covers pre-operational inspections, safe operating techniques, excavation duties (digging, trenching, placing materials), fitting attachments, WHS regulations and site safety, post-operative procedures, and machine maintenance.

Entry Requirements
To enrol in this excavator course, students must:
- Be able to read and write basic English
- Pass a language, literacy, and numeracy assessment (LLN)
- Be mechanically minded with an interest in operating heavy machinery
- Be a minimum of 16 years of age
- Provide two forms of identification
- Wear steel-capped or safety boots on site
- Sun protection is also recommended (hat, long sleeves, and pants)

Course Details
Three-Day Excavator Course
Duration: 2 days training, 1 day assessment
Time: 6.30am to 3pm
- Quality training materials (logbook, training plan, training manual, full assessment, heavy machinery)
- Three days of intense, competency-based training and assessment delivered by our exceptional trainers and assessors
- Intensive theoretical and practical training conducted in our classroom facilities over two days
- Theoretical learning will be presented through videos, live demonstrations, and instructions
- One day of practical assessment at our facility where you’ll operate an excavator
- A practical skills logbook for you to record your experiences during the course
- Courses run Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday from 6:30 am until 3.00 pm
