HiVis Women in Construction

As the workplace evolves and becomes more progressive to align with the times, more women are challenging the bias within the trade industry and choosing to forge successful careers as tradeswomen.

HiVis Women in Construction is a program led by National Joblink and designed to assist women to develop the skills required to work in the construction industry through hands-on training and guidance.

The program kicking off on the 19th of June, is a Community Work skills initiative, provided by the Queensland Government under their Skilling Queenslanders for Work funding. This is an essential initiative to assist Queenslanders who meet the criteria to gain skills, qualifications and experience to enter or remain relevant in the workforce.

Over the course of 14 weeks, it will provide skills-based training and guidance, relevant work experience, quality mentorship and employability skills training. Upon graduation of this program, successful attendees will gain a CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction (including white card), Working at Heights ticket and an Elevated Work Platform ticket provided through Major Training (RTO 6139). In addition to these qualifications, the women are given a full PPE kit, an esky and water bottle and a 5 driving lesson package.

Ongoing support will also be provided with assistance with interview attire, phone credit, identity documents and transport for job interview purposes and the facilitation and assignment of a female mentor to encourage them with ongoing support.

This program was specifically designed to equip motivated women to give themselves the best possible head start in their trade career. If you are interested in this program, please call National Job Link Cairns on 1300 136 496.
