OVERVIEW
The nationally recognised unit of competency CPCWHS1001 Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry is a basic requirement to work safely in construction sites. Since Work Health & Safety (WHS) General Construction Induction training is mandatory before anyone can carry out construction work, we offer a comprehensive White Card course to help you get certified. The course can be completed in just one day, so you can receive your White Card at the end of the program.
For Sunshine Coast-based individuals who are interested in starting construction work, completing a White Card training is the first step to accomplishing your goal. At Major, we make the process easy from start to finish, ensuring learners quickly absorb the knowledge and skills needed to safely navigate a construction worksite. Some of the things you’ll learn are relevant construction fundamentals, regulatory authorities, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Course Details
The course combines theory with practical activities to help you apply safe work practices in real construction environments. Essential skills you’ll develop through this training include identifying common workplace hazards, following WHS procedures, and meeting the construction industry’s induction requirements.
Not only is a White Card a requirement for working on construction sites, but it also gives you the confidence to step onto a worksite knowing you understand workplace safety. The best part is that earning this qualification doesn’t require days or weeks of training. In just around five hours, you’ll complete the course and leave with your White Card, ready to take the next step in your construction career.

White Card (Sunshine Coast) Career Pathways
A White Card is the entry requirement for working on construction sites across the Sunshine Coast. After completing the training, which only takes several hours (that’s right, no need to return the next day), you can expect to receive your White Card straight away. With a fast turnaround, your valuable time can be spent exploring jobs in construction, civil infrastructure, demolition, landscaping, and site labour. What’s more, a White Card can also help you obtain additional qualifications for high-risk work licences, allowing you to build your skills and access more opportunities.
A White Card can come in especially handy on the Sunshine Coast, with construction and infrastructure development showing no signs of slowing down. The region’s ongoing and planned upgrades to transport networks, roads, and community infrastructure are sure to support long-term growth across the area. With continued investment in public spaces, housing developments, and tourism-related projects, a White Card makes it easier to secure jobs and take advantage of the region’s growing career opportunities.
Possible Roles
Potential wages could be in the region of $60,000 and upwards per year.
