Yesterday was a particularly special day on-site at our Yatala campus. We had the privilege of unveiling a classroom dedicated to one of our longest-serving trainers, Alan Maggs.
Best known for his dedication to his students and the transport and logistics industry, we wanted to acknowledge Alan’s commitment to us as a company with a career that spanned over 18 years, by revealing a plaque in his honor.
When asked about his room of choice, Alan replied, “I choose Room 10 as it has significance to me. Not only was this the classroom I predominantly trained my students in, it’s also my birthday and favorite number.”
Starting out as a student at Major, Alan originally came to us to gain a ticket, which upon completion, lead him to being snapped up and offered a position as a driver trainer.
Alan reminisces about the changes which he has witnessed over the past decade with us, from a company who only offered truck training and earthmoving, to the wide scope of qualifications we offer today.
“The business has grown 10-fold from when I first started.” Alan told us.
In true Alan style, when asked about what his proudest moments were here, the core of his motivation was simply helping others.
“I get the enjoyment of guiding and assisting people on their journey to achieve their goals, whether it’s a career change or just to get a license.”
Our CEO, Mathew Tenkate, has worked alongside Alan for these years and fondly reminisces about the service Alan provided us, training over 1000 students.
“After Major celebrated 25 years in business, Alan deserves this recognition and acknowledgment for his contribution and lasting impact on students, friendships and memories during his 18 years with us.” Mathew expressed.
“He was always helpful, always making it happen and living our values.”
From the entire Major family, we thank you Alan and have immense gratitude to what you have contributed to us as a company.
