Since every electrical contractor must have a valid and eligible QTP qualification, this course is essential for anyone looking to become an electrician, engineer, or technician or work with electricity in Queensland. ENTRY Requirements
To enrol in the Qualified Technical Person course in Queensland, you must hold an up-to-date unrestricted electrical licence for at least 2 years. We also recommend having strong internet access for online study, as well as your own vehicle or access to one of our training sites located across Queensland.
Qualified Technical Person (QTP) Course
Studying to become a Qualified Technical Person (QTP), particularly within Australia’s electrical contracting sector, opens pathways to senior supervisory, compliance, and technical leadership roles beyond hands‑on electrical work. A QTP is a legal requirement for electrical contractors and is responsible for ensuring all electrical work meets safety standards and regulatory obligations.
After completing the course, you can qualify for higher-paying jobs. You may also choose further study, such as short courses in Qualified Business Person (QBP) or a refresher course for other electrical skills.
